Banjo-Pilot: Time Trial Records
Let’s take a break from the hectic play of Bottles’ Grand Prix for a second. I’m sure a lot of people will be sick of getting hit with item after item, enough to want to have a shot at taking on each of the game’s courses alone.
One of Banjo-Pilot’s many modes of play is the Time Trial mode. Although this is now considered to be a staple feature for racing games, it’s good to see that it’s decided to show up in Banjo-Pilot for those who don’t fancy the thought of racing with others on the same track.
In the Time Trial mode, you’ll be able to test your speed on each of the game’s tracks (including the reversed versions from Grunty’s Grand Prix) to try and beat the game’s best times; both the lap times and race times. Sometimes it will be easy, other times it may require a bit of practice first before you finally beat that record.
There are two things you should think about doing before getting stuck into the Time Trial mode. Try and unlock the glowbos for the mode, as well as all the characters – see the unlockables section about this. These will help out a lot when trying to beat the initial records, and will be an absolute neccessity for the Rareware records (although I doubt very much that the records were actually set by the Rare staff like the staff records in Mario Kart, as these ones aren’t nearly as hard to beat and are all rounded to the minute).
REGULAR RECORDS
When you start the game, you’ll only be able to race in the Bottles GP – the Grunty GP can be unlocked later on if you wish. Each track consists of three laps, and at the end of the race your race time, as well as your best lap time, will be taken and compared with the game’s records. If your time is lower than one of the game’s records, then you’ll beat it, obviously. Below is a list of all the times you have to beat in the time trial mode. Check the Speed Tips guide if you need help in achieving these times.

RARE RECORDS
After beating all of the regular records (both lap and race) for the tracks on both GP’s, you’ll be able to buy a new mode from Cheato, namely the Rare Time Trial Mode. Although the likelihood of these times being those of the Rare staff is very low (see how they’re all nicely rounded?) some of them may prove a little tricky to beat if you come unprepared. Again, check the Speed Tips guide for help if you need to, otherwise just keep at it and you’ll eventually beat these.
