Freezeezy For The Future

As soon as you enter Freezing Furnace head south to collect your first note (1) and then get ready to fend yourself from the Biggafoot, a yeti in similar appearance to Bad Magic Bayou’s Bogfoot. You’ll need to roll into the Biggafoot four times to take him out, or you’re free to use your Rat-A-Tat Rap ability three times instead. Once you’ve cleared the path, head south and right to go around the elevated platform, collecting 3 more notes (4) as you encounter your next Biggafoot, deal with it in the same manner and then head to the left to find Bozzeye’s molehill. At 504 Notes we’re well past Bozzeye’s required fee of 470. Press A and get ready to learn how to dish out the heat!

Turning Up The Heat: Fire Egg Ability

Once summoned to the surface, Bozzeye will teach us about Fire Eggs which can be selected with R once you’ve gone into Egg Firing Mode. The Fire Eggs are an essential item to have in your arsenal; they’ll incinerate most of the enemies in Freezing Furnace which can otherwise withstand heavy duty damage. You can also use the Fire Eggs to heat things up when it comes to using them on Fire Egg Tolls. Now that we’ve got some real firepower on our side, let’s test out our newfound ability on the Toll up ahead. Continue north along the frozen path until you come across the Toll, select the Fire Eggs from your arsenal while in Breegul Blasting mode and launch one into the Toll. Once the toll is activated you’ll manage to activate a rising and lowering platform to the right, use your Talon Trot to ascend the steep slope to the right and climb onto the platform which will take you to the next area above. Once you leave the platform you’re sure to see an igloo up ahead, enter it to have another meeting with the cheating Rat, Mr. Ripovski.

Frozen Fishsticks: Fishy Fingers Mini-Game

Akin to the Magic Angler mini-game before it, Mr. Ripovski has set forth the challenge of catching a number of fish with a baited line. Unfortunately the arctic waters weren’t enough to send the Snippets packing and you’ll find them amongst the fish you’re trying to reel in, and to make matters worse the Snippets and fish and submerged under the water and you’ll only have the shadows to go by. The controls haven’t been altered since the Sheep Dip mini-game all they way back on Cliff Farm; Use the control pad to move left and right, pressing B will cause the rod to cast, while holding B will cause Banjo to cast his baited line out farther.

With the hidden fish the challenge is increased significantly and until you’ve pulled up your catch you’ll have no idea whether you’ve reeled in a catch or grab a nasty pinch. To make matters easier the Snippets and Fish swim differently from each other, though it is subtly so.
If you keep your eyes peeled you’ll notice that the fish move in an alternating pattern; they’ll swim forward, slow down slightly, then swim forward once more. The Snippets however will move in a constant motion, never slowing or speeding up. Use this to your advantage to reel in 12 fish before the time limit and you’ll complete the mini-game.

Once you’ve manage to reel in a dozen fish in 40 seconds or less Mr. Ripovski will award you with your first Jiggy of Freezing Furnace. Since the Igloo is much too cramped for such a large prize you’ll find your reward placed on top of the Igloo that hosts the Fishy Fingers mini-game. Once you find yourself back outside, just jump on top of the Igloo to snatch your first Jiggy (1).

From here, continue left toward the fence to collect the note (5), then continue left until you see a Barrel filled with Fireworks. Hmm, looks like Banjo will need to get hot-headed to light this fuse… Continue to the north and go left around the large ice structure, you’ll pick up your next two notes (7), but do watch out for the wayward Blizzard that will be in your way. Going against the wind is quite similar to going against the tide; just push your control pad in the opposite direction of the Blizzard and you should be fine. Head North from here to enter Mumbo’s Pad.

Mumbo’s Pad

Once inside Mumbo’s Pad approach the shaman and he’ll ask if you want to change into something, confirm that you would and you’ll be lead to the Pad. Select the Candle Transformation and wait for Mumbo to work his magic, once the transformation is complete exit Mumbo’s Pad.

Freezing Furnace

Once you’re back outside, avoid the Blizzard and head toward the Firecracker Barrel. Use your Flaming Somersault attack and you’ll manage to blow up the barrel, providing an entrance that you can use to get into the ice structure. Don’t get too hasty though; there are water jets inside that will pump out water systematically which can be enough to put a damper on Candle Banjo if you’re not too careful. Wait for the first jet to finish its’ pump, than charge through the middle to the end where you’ll rescue the first of Freezing Furnaces Jinjo’s (1). Now it’s just a matter of making your way back through the ice structure and back into Mumbo’s Pad.

Mumbo’s Pad

That was a quick transformation, though it’s going to be far from our last. Approach the shaman a second time and ask to be transformed again. Instead of turning back into our furry selves however, we’ll choose the Octopus from the available transformations and let Mumbo get to work. Once the transformation is complete, exit Mumbo’s Pad.

Freezing Furnace

From here let’s head south being wary that we don’t bump into the Blizzard and we’ll spot a iron pipe that heads off to the left horizontally. Let’s jump over this pipe which will plunge us into the icy water below. Unlike Banjo, the Octopus is capable of dealing with these frigid waters without losing any health. With that out of the way we’ll follow the stream to the south and hop over another pipe, once we do that let’s head left along the shore to spot something out to sea…A Hollow Honeycomb Piece that’s been left on a frozen pillar! Let’s use the increased jumping ability of the Octopus to jump into the air and onto the pillar where we can claim the Empty Honeycomb Piece (11). We’ll jump to the right from here to spot an ice berg with an exclamation mark sign harboring two notes, collect the notes (9). Head north to get back on the shore, and then head toward the water on the other side to obtain your improved jumping ability. Once you’ve gotten in the water, jump to the south to collect the next note (10) and then follow the land to the right to pick up another note (11) and head south into the water. Continue to the right but be sure to stick close to the shore so you don’t get lost out to sea.

Once you find a structure with a Bee Hive on it, head to the north and collect the single note (12) between the two Stinglashes. Climb the structure by jumping to the left and then up to collect the next note (13) and then jump right to collect the last note (14). Follow the path upward but do not enter the glowing red doorway, instead head to the right and drop off the structure and into the icy waters. From here you should manage to see a Stinglash surrounded by three notes to the north, take care of the Stinglash using your Water Jet and collect the notes (17). At this point you should hear the pleas of a nearby Jinjo, jump off the island to the north and you’ll notice the Blue Jinjo stranded on a lone island ahead. Jump onto the island and collect the Jinjo (2).

From here head south and follow the shore and eventually you’ll come back to the platform harboring a Bee Hive, head to the left from here until you spot a Green Whiplash and then continue north around a giant ice structure. You’ll manage to see a Bee Hive on an elevated platform above you, and a mysterious cavern nearly hidden by the ice that the Bee Hive sits on. Nonetheless, swim into the cavern to enter the Chilly Chasm…

Chilly Chasm

Just as our last excursion into the Mucky Passage with the Octopus the current here is strong as well. The water will pull you to the right persistently and there will be little you can do to turn the tide, remember though, that you can press left on the control pad to create some resistance. Jumping will also work in your favor if you use it in combination with the control pad as well. From the get-go you’ll need to watch out for 3 Stinglashes and a Shrapnel, be sure to use your Water Jet to your advantage here.

Once you pass that section you’ll need to maneuver around a trio of Stinglashes as well as 4 Shrapnels which circle a Stinglash, keep your Water Jet on rapid fire here. Once you’ve finished with them, look out for the Note Nest to the north which you can snatch up by jumping onto the platform and then grabbing the Note Nest (22). Don’t get back to the water so quickly though; there’s a platform which branches across the chasm harboring 2 notes and another Note Nest. Jump from your current platform onto the thin platform to collect these notes (29). Jump back into the water and watch out for Shrapnels.

Up ahead you’ll need to take out at least one of the Stinglashes with your Water Jet ability in order to get by to the next area, which is consequently filled with Shrapnels, pass through that and you’ll approach the final barricade of Stinglashes. Once you pass by this last obstacle in the icy chasm and you’ll reach the end. Once you’ve finished your trek, jump up out of the water using your increased jumping ability and onto the shore and collect your well-deserved Jiggy (2) as well as the three notes (32) by the exit.

Freezing Furnace

Once you exit the Chilly Chasm you’ll be booted back out to the frigid world of Freezing Furnace. Watch out for the Shrapnel and head to the left and then north, you should come across an alcove in the wall ahead which you can reach with a jump in the water with the Octopus. Once you travel into the narrow cavern you’ll find yourself back beside Mumbo’s Pad atop the ice structure, traverse the ice structure to collect 2 notes (34) and then head left into Mumbo’s Pad.

Mumbo’s Pad

Once inside Mumbo’s Pad approach the shaman and he’ll ask if you want to change into something, confirm that you would and you’ll be lead to the Pad. Select the Bear Transformation and wait for Mumbo to work his magic, once the transformation is complete exit Mumbo’s Pad.

Freezing Furnace

Once outside Mumbo’s Pad avoid the Blizzard and carry onto the right. Eventually you’ll pass the rising platform and come to a stream flowing into a waterfall, jump over the stream and collect the next note (35) as you do so. You should manage to spot an icy platform just to the south, Feathery Flap onto it to grab a string of notes (38). Jump back to the north once you’ve done this and grab the next note (39) up ahead, be sure to take out the Biggafoot. Follow the fence to the right and eventually you’ll come across a patch of icicles on the ground, when you stand over top of the icicles, execute a Feathery Flap to the south and you should manage to land on an icy platform with a Jiggy Switch on top.

A Sprint through the Snow!

Normally the way to go about this Jiggy is to activate the switch and then attempt to rush to it by running on the ice which provides little traction and big frustration, however, there is an easier way to go about collecting this Jiggy. Instead of running to the south after you slam the switch, Feathery Flap back onto the fenced area with the Icicles in the snow; this will provide you with a much easier way back. Once you’ve touched down on the main land go into Talon Trot mode, avoid the Biggafoot and use the ice floats to get to the Jiggy in the center and grab the Jiggy (3) before it disappears!

Once you’ve managed to do that, hop off to ice float to your right to grab a Note Nest (44). From this ice float, jump diagonally to the left to get onto the float with Ice Eggs ontop. One last Feathery Flap to the right towards land should have you set. From here avoid the Biggafoot and head north after you see the Snowmobile stuck in the snow, collect the next note (45) and enter the cave in front of you.

Save The Snowies: Snowy Sleds Mini-Game

As the Bear and Bird emerge on the other side of the cavern they find a vast land of snow before them. Up ahead it looks as though the fishing business isn’t the only operation that Mr. Ripovski has under wraps, as the sneaky rat has taken to capturing the defenseless ‘Snowies’ with his gang. It’s up to Banjo and Kazooie to commandeer a ski-doo and rescue the Snowies by picking them up off the floor before Ripovski gets a chance to. The controls are quite the same from the Battle Boats mini-game from Breegul Beach in that you use the control pad to turn, A to accelerate with the added bonus of using L and R to throw Snowballs to keep the rat crew at bay.

Be sure to keep an eye on the head icons to the left as they’ll indicate the current leader with the most Snowies on top. Once you manage to collect more Snowies in 45 seconds than Mr. Ripovski or his gang members then you’ll be rewarded with your next Jiggy (4). The Jiggy will drift over to your Skidoo and you’ll naturally pick it up, after that you’ll find yourself back out at the cave entrance where you’ll be immediately attacked by the patrolling Biggafoot. This Biggafoot is beginning to be a Bigga pain…

Freezing Furnace

Once you’ve dealt with the Biggafoot execute a Flip Flap onto the ledge to your left, avoiding the Blizzard and picking up the notes behind and in front of it, once you collect the notes (47) head up to the next platform which harbors a giant Biggafoot statue. Inside the Biggafoots Statues’ grasp imprissons the next Jinjo, which is helpless to escape its captors clutches. A Bill Drill will shake it down, but unfortunately the crumbly earth has been blocked off by a large Ice Block. Let’s go into Breegul Blaster mode and select our Fire Eggs, once you’ve done that it’s a simple manner of incinerating the boulder to reveal the cracked earth beneath. Stand over top of the crack and use your Bill Drill to cause a mini-avalanche that will shake loose the Jinjo from the Biggafoots grasp, once the Jinjo has fallen from the hand it’ll fall into reach just in front of the Biggafoot statue. Pick up the Jinjo (3) and head to the right until you approach a Bee Hive.

Industrial Hazards Ahead!

From here execute a Flip Flap to reach the ledge to the right and then follow the rocky structure while avoiding the Biggafoot positioned above. You’re free to use your arsenal of Fire Eggs to your advantage here as a single shot will prove to be fatal to the Biggafoot, just be sure to keep an eye on your supply. Once you’ve completed the trek, drop down and collect the string of three notes (50) over top of the glowing cave mouth. After you’ve collected all of the notes, drop down a level and enter the fiery maw that is Grunty’s Industries…
