Besting the Beach

Once you’ve made it through the forest you’ll enter Breegul Peak; the highest point of the island. While you might be eager to go sight seeing, we should go see someone who’s quite a sight to see! Collect the 3 notes (56) and then head to the right to learn Bozzeye’s next move. At this point in our adventure we should have collected 200 notes now, a nice round number, and it gives us plenty of space from the requirement of 140. Let’s talk to Bozzeye and see what he has to say about the steep slope just behind his mole hill.

Surpassing Steep Slopes: Talon Trot Ability

Once Bozzeye has been summoned he’ll reveal the final collaborative ability in Breegul Beach; the Talon Trot. The Talon Trot gives Kazooie a chance to stretch her legs! By holding L you’ll go into crouching position, pressing R allows Kazooie to pop her legs out of the pack and support Banjo’s full weight. Though this vantage point you’ll be able to tackle steep slopes without sliding back down them, as well this acts as a quicker mode of transport. Once you’re finished the Talon Trot, press L again to have Banjo take over once more. Use the Talon Trot to walk up the steep hill, once you reach the top collect a string of 3 notes (59) and speak with the White Breegul.

Really Ancient Test of the Ancient Breeguls: Grubby Chute

Once we’ve reached the summit the White Breegul will tell us of an ancient and legendary quest to collect 20 Rare Glow Grubs from the Slippery Slide of Iggy Twiggy…and, you’re not buying any of this are you? Right, well it just turns out that the White Breegul is just hungry and if you manage to get the Grubs from the slide he’ll reward you with a Jiggy. Once you’re finished taking the lunch order, climb the vines to the left of the White Breegul until you reach the top of Breegul Peak where you’ll find the Breegul Slide. Before we go rushing in though, let’s collect the items on either side of this “ancient” building. Let’s first go to the left and collect the single note (60) and the Jinjo (4).

Let’s continue plundering the ancient treasures around the entrance, from here we can then head on over to the right side and collect the 2 notes (62) here as well as the Empty Honeycomb piece (4), we can get our next Honeycomb Unit Extension from Honey B. at this point when we return to Spiral Mountain. Once you’ve collected all of these items it’s time to enter the ancient Breegul temple and collect the ancient treasure of…lunch.

Inside the Slippery Slide of Iggy-Whatsisface you’ll be tasked with avoiding the Springy Spikes all the while going out of your way to collect the 20 Glow Grubs before the slide comes to an end. The controls still remain the same as the Egg Scramble mini-game in that you’ll use the control pad to direct yourself left and right. It’s a lot more hazardous this time ’round the chute as the Glow Grubs have been put in more precarious positions then the eggs previous, as well the Springy Spikes can be found in plenty supply. You’ll also have the option to choose a path when the Glow Grubs are separated by Springy Spikes.

Breegul Beach

After you’ve collected 20 Glow Grubs on the Slippery Slide the White Breegul back on Breegul Peak will reward your lunch delivery with a Jiggy. The spiral slide will spit you back out onto Breegul Beach where we can tackle our next challenge. Let’s collect the Jiggy (6) that been placed in front of us and drop down to the ledge below. You’ll end up seeing a cave mouth just behind you where the shore begins, let’s enter the cavern and get ready for a game of Battle Boats with a familiar face from our first adventure…

Havoc on the High Seas: Battle Boats!

Upon entering the cave you’ll have interrupted a meeting of Little Blubber’s Pirate Scouts who have used the waterlogged cavern as a club house. A less tearful and younger Captain Blubber offers Banjo a shot at becoming a member of his Pirate Scouts, if he manages to complete the initiation process. What does that entail exactly? The scouts have set up a large treasure chest in the middle of the water, if Banjo manages to hold onto the chest longer than the scouts then he’ll win the prize inside. The controls are fairly simple for the Battle Boat; Use the control pads to move in all directions in combination with A to accelerate. Pass through the chest to grab it and use your L and R buttons to fire off cannonballs to the left (port) and right (starboard) to defend your booty or trip up the competition. It’s a challenge to keep yourself shipshape, but do so and win the prize on show.

Once you manage to prove yourself the most pirate of the lot you’ll be an official member of Little Blubber’s Pirate Scouts, you’ll earn something that matters too as your winning will earn you the bountiful booty inside the chest; A gleaming Jiggy! You won’t have to hold onto this Jiggy, or even touch it for that matter as once the chest opens to reveal its prize inside it will automatically drift over to your Battle Boat, talk about service! After you’ve collected your Jiggy (7) you’ll be booted out to the cavern entrance below the exit to the Grubby Chute Mini-game.

Seeking Sold Out Shells

From here, let’s make our way back to the Quay by jumping onto the platform Bozzeye taught us the Feathery Flap and then again to the next platform to the south and finally to the last right beside the Quay. Execute the Flip Flap to get back onto the Quay. From here let’s travel back to the White Breegul in front of Quarry Heights and head south until we see a beach hut. By traveling down the right hand side of the hut so we’ll manage to collect a Blue Shell (4) next to a tire. From here let’s make our way to the front of the hut and speak to the merchant inside. As it turns out the merchant inside is a sleazy rat known as Mr. Ripovski who requires 5 Blue Shells. It just so happens we’re only missing a single shell, so let’s get collecting!

Head around to the right side of the beach hut and collect 3 notes (65) and then follow the ledge down south to collect 3 more notes (68). From here you’ll manage to spot the final Blue Shell (5) beside the platform, jump off to the right and collect it. While we’ve just collected all of the Shells we need for the reward, we won’t go to claim it just yet. Instead, continue on to the right and you’ll come across a collection of notes, 3 on the shore and 1 in the water. Collect the notes (72) and you’re sure to see something that needs your help in the water. Collect the note (73) beside the Dolphin and then talk to it.

Swimming for Sunken Treasure

It turns out that the Dolphin is troubled by ‘shiny thing’ blocking the door to his room and he wishes to escort Banjo underneath Breegul Lagoon so that he might move the blockage so he’ll be able to get into his house. Hmm, are we sure this Dolphin isn’t named Gnawty? Regardless, given that 5% of shiny things in the Banjo universe account for lost buttons and safety pins while the other 95% are given attributes for Jiggies, it’s worth our while to help out the Dolphin. Swim south toward the bubbling water where the Dolphin dove under. Collect the note (74) and then use your underwater dive ability to follow the Dolphin.

Breegul Lagoon

Once we’ve dived under the water into Breegul Lagoon we’ll need to swim to the right, avoiding the Whiplash as we do. You’ll need to gain some ground here, so press A when you’ve sunken too much. Head south once you meet the wall and collect the 3 notes (77) near the bottom. Swim to the right and do your best to collect the note (78) and avoid being hit by the Whiplash. Continue to the right and you’ll collect your next note (79) before having to avoid a Shrapnel, if you continue on to the right from here you’ll find a bubbling spout to restore your oxygen. Once you’ve topped off, head south and collect the single note (80) on the platform.

You’ll come across a large coral reef here, the important thing to remember is that you’ll need to find the opening that permits you to the other side, whether that means sinking or floating to get through that hole. This one is fairly obvious, just sink to the bottom and stay centered and you should have no problem getting through it and collecting the note (81) waiting for you on the other side. Avoid the Whiplash and carry on to the south and you’ll collect another (82) before having to turn right and collect the next note(83). You’ll have to use the A button to get off the ground as you turn the corner and head north.

Once you reach the coral reef, swim into the middle by holding the A button until you’ve reached desired height. Once you’ve made it to the other side, continue down the thin tunnel and collect the 4 notes (87) There’s another bubbling spout next to the final note, so it’s a wise idea to top off once you’ve collected them all. Before we head to the north, let’s go left instead and we’ll eventually come across an elevated piece of seabed harboring a Hollow Honeycomb (5). Collect it, come back to the center and top yourself off if need be, and then continue north to the final coral reef.

This time you’ll have to stick to the left hand side of the reef and raise yourself up to the middle using the A button. Once you’ve gotten through, collect the single note (88) and continue north to collect the next note (89). Lastly, head to the left to collect the last note (90) under the lagoon and approach the sunken ship that the Dolphin has stopped at, the blockage being, what else, a Jiggy! Rise up to the hull door and collect the Jiggy (8) and then sink down into the Haunted Hold that the Jiggy was blocking.

Haunted Hold

As soon as you sink into the depths of the Haunted Hold you’re sure to hear the cries of the last Jinjo (5), let’s sink down and collect the 4 notes on the bottom of the ship (94) and then swim north toward the cage. You’ll need to swim into the hole on the left hand side of the cage by pressing A to reach desired height while below the hole. Once you’re inside the caged area, swim to the right to collect the Jinjo and surface using R.

Breegul Beach

From the bubbling water swim north until you reach the sandy shore, and then continue to the right. You’ll notice a pathway made up of tiny pebbles, follow these until you pass a palm tree. Eventually you’ll come across a collection of notes. You’ll find 3 notes (97) on the shore around a raised piece of land, and by going south into the water from this marking and then swimming to the right you’ll manage to find the remaining 3 notes (100).

Now let’s find our way back to the shore and we’ll follow it left until we reach the spot where we found the last Blue Shell. From here let’s walk to the north a little bit until we see that a large rock wall is surrounding us. Flip Flap up and over the rock wall and head to the right to speak to Mr. Ripovski in front of his beach hut. After he’s traded off the shells he’ll mention that Gruntilda has been using the Breeguls to carve stone blocks to build onto her new Lair. The sooner we get Wartbags back to her own time period the better the past will be. The Jiggy (9) will appear in front of the beach hut, snatch it up and then walk to the north until you reach the Jinjo Oracle.

With all of the Yellow Jinjos saved on Breegul Beach, the Jinjo Oracle has provided us a Jiggy for capturing all 5 Jinjos. Grab the Jiggy (10) waiting for you in front of it and the Jinjo Oracle will let slip a secret about our next world. “Bad Magic Bayou” That’s where we’ll be heading next. From the Oracle let’s head to the north and jump onto the grassy ledge. Keep walking north until you reach the waterfall ahead and then go left around it until you see the entrance to leave Breegul Beach behind.

Next: Trudging through the Swamp.
