Mickey’s Racing Adventure – Frequently Asked Questions

Before you start revving your engine to catch up with Pete and his cronies, it’s wise to consult this Frequently Asked Questions page to steer yourself in the right direction.

Where can I find the racetracks in Mickey’s Racing Adventure?

The racetracks can only be accessed by taking a ride on the steam train, Casey Jr. – however, you’ll need to pay a fare for the trip. Explore the grounds of Mickey’s Home Town, Casey Jr. Junction, Magica De Spells Home, the Treehouse Glade and Ludwig Von Drake’s Garage to pick up Railroad Pennies. When you’ve collected enough Railroad Pennies for a ticket, you can take a trip from Casey Jr. Junction to the racetracks.

How do I switch to another character?

After you’ve taken a ride on Casey Jr., you’ll need to solve a moving block puzzle to arrive at the racetracks. Upon solving the moving block puzzle, you’ll be able to return to Mickey’s Home Town and enter the house of another character to switch over to them. You’ll need to solve Mickey’s Casey Jr. Puzzle to unlock Minnie; Minnie’s Casey Jr. Puzzle to unlock Daisy; Daisy’s Casey Jr. Puzzle to unlock Donald, and Donald’s Casey Jr. Puzzle to unlock Goofy.

I keep seeing a flashing “?” on the ground – what does this mean?

A flashing question mark on the ground means that an important item can be collected, but not with the character you’ve currently selected. You’ll need to return to this location with another character to pick up the item that’s meant for them.

My vehicle seems too slow. How can I keep up with Pete’s cronies?

To gain a competitive edge, you’ll need to visit Ludwig Von Drake’s Garage, found east of Casey Jr. Junction. Inside, you’ll be able to upgrade your current vehicles’ top speed, acceleration and handling in exchange for Disney Dollars, or you can choose to purchase a brand new faster model and upgrade that as well. Keep in mind that the more expensive (and faster) the vehicle, the more Disney Dollars you’ll need to pay for upgrades.

What does my ‘Magic’ meter do during races?

The Magic meter is meant to give you an advantage during the races by using Magica De Spell’s conjuring abilities. If you visit Magica in her home just west of Casey Jr. Junction, you’ll be able to select a number of magic spells to be used in your future races in exchange for Disney Dollars. Once you’ve selected your spell, leave Magica to concoct your chosen ability, and then you’ll find that you can press B to activate it as you race against Pete’s cronies. Your magic meter will charge up with each completed lap, and each spell will use a varying portion of your meter to perform, so choose wisely.

How can I switch between the different spells I’ve purchased?

Only one spell can be used in each race, but you can choose which one will appear by pressing Select to bring up the pause menu, and then selecting the spell of your choice from the bottom of the screen. After you’ve made your confirmation with A, you’ll find that your chosen spell will be prepared for the next race.

How do I unlock the Post Office, the Print Shop and Mickey’s Garage?

All three buildings require Keys to unlock, which are currently being held by Chip ‘N Dale in the Treehouse Glade, just north of Casey Jr. Junction. The Post Office and the Print Shop are easy enough to obtain – you’ll need to exchange 20 Disney Dollars and 9 scattered Acorns for each Key. The Post Office Key will unlock the building on the east side of Mickey’s Home Town, and the Print Shop Key will unlock the building on the west.
In order to obtain the Key for Mickey’s Garage, you’ll need to give Chip N’ Dale 150 Disney Dollars, and beat their best track times on five racetracks – the times of each can be found here.

I tried to ride Casey Jr. with Pluto, but he can’t race – what can I do with him instead?
Pluto has a few handy tricks in Mickey’s Racing Adventure. First, you can find hidden Disney Dollars, Railway Pennies and Acorns by walking over to a patch of grass and pressing B to dig a hole. Second – if you can find a sign that points to the ground in any area, digging underneath it will allow you to make a shortcut by connecting two underground grottos together, which the other characters can use to warp between, saving time.
If you’ve noticed a “!” appear over Pluto’s head, it means that a secret mini-game is waiting to be found nearby. Dig around the surrounding areas and you’ll discover a secret mini-game where Pluto must collect a series of Pink Bones while avoiding his rival, Butch.

I have enough Railroad Pennies to reach Pete’s Mansion, but a dog is blocking my way. How do I get past him?

Pete’s Mansion is guarded by Butch, a temperamental bulldog that you’ll have met in Pluto’s Bonus games. In order to get past Butch, you’ll need to acquire 6 Golden Bones with Pluto to offer them as a bribe to make progress into Pete’s Mansion. In order to find the 6 Golden Bones, you’ll need to unlock the Post Office and then select ‘Send Pluto Parcel’. This will allow you to send Pluto to any of the Adventure worlds where you’ve beaten Pete to play four Bonus Games and win the coveted Golden Bone. The final Golden Bone can be found by finding and completing the secret Bonus games in Mickey’s Home Town, Casey Jr. Junction, Magica De Spell’s Home and Ludwig Von Drake’s Garage.
