MISSION 7: CUBA – STAGE 2: CONTROL CENTER

Background: The Janus Control Center has been located in an underground complex in the Cuban jungle.

Objectives:
1- Protect Natalya (Agent)
2- Disable GoldenEye Satellite (Agent)
3- Destroy the Armored Mainframes (Agent)

M Briefing: Into the lion’s den, 007. Well, just be careful. Remember that you and Miss Simonova are a team, it’s critical that you protect her while she’s hacking into the Janus computers. With any luck she’ll be able to stop the Goldeneye from firing.

Q Branch: While you’re there old boy, see if you can’t erase their databases. The details of Janus’ criminal bankrolls are stored on specifically armored mainframe units. That information is worth millions to Janus – I’m sure you’ll find some way of deleting it.

Moneypenny: You know, James, she’s not the only woman who can operate a computer.

MISSION 7: CUBA – STAGE 2: CONTROL – MAPS

These declassified maps from MI6 give a satellite view of the Control Center – our intelligence has also taken great care to provide internal blueprints for any area that our cameras haven’t been able to peer inside of, giving you complete visibility of every location in your mission. Crucial provisions like Body Armor and hidden Weapons have also been detailed inside the dossier, along with other points of interest during the assignment.Click here to expand the dossier and take a closer look at the maps provided within. You may use these maps before the mission starts to familiarize yourself with the region, and refer to them throughout as you need them.
Good luck, 007!

JANUS CONTROL CENTER, CUBA

The GoldenEye is set to fire on London in a matter of minutes, and only you and Natalya can put an end to Trevelyan’s traitorous plans! Open the elevator door and she will stay in there for now. There will be a total of six guards in this room ready to take off your head, as well as three drone guns around every turn. The guards are stupid and the guns will not notice you around the corners if you hug them tightly enough. Clear the room completely, then go back to the elevator. Natalya will express her appreciation for your ability to kill without remorse and run to the computer console. She has to play around with it for a while before she will be able to open a blast door for you.

Through that door will be six guards at the far end. Two will be downstairs and four near all the crates. Grenades will be thrown at you, so step back when you see a small, black spot fly across the screen. Running into this area blindly will get you nowhere but your grave. Move around the corner and eliminate everyone in this room, too. Go up the stairs and open the door. Kill the two guys down the stairs but do not enter. One enemy will come from either side, so take them out before they have their lengthy turning and aiming animations. Go down through the door on your left.

You will find yourself in the main control room for the GoldenEye satellite. This place will be free of guards, so take advantage of this and be tactical. Select your remote mines on your items menu and get ready for some synchronized demolition. Ignore Boris. Killing him will cause Natalya to abort the mission. Toss a mine onto each of the large computer mainframes in this room. There are two right where Boris was. If you go upstairs, you will find two more, one on either side. Go upstairs to the third floor to find some hidden Body Armor in a duct.

When all four of these are in place, detonate them. The objective will be nearly done. However, the explosions will alert enemies in other rooms. Soldiers will flood in from the first floor now: four from the left by the entrance, two from the other side. These enemies can be pesky since you don’t have much cover. Hopefully you survived against these guys. If you did, go where two enemies entered to find a mainframe surrounded by glass. Toss a grenade or mine into there to blow it up. Now, open the final door on the far wall of the control room.

This room is a bother. Four troops and two drone guns will fire at you immediately. I’ve died from this room more times than I can count. Some gifted cornerplay will be needed here to take all of that mess out. Toss a grenade or two around if you can. If you are lucky enough to remove all those soldiers and those two drone guns, don’t breathe that sigh of relief yet, because on either side of you will be another drone gun. Peeking around corners carefully will let you destroy both of those without much trouble. Granted that you were able to clear this room, walk in and find the large mainframe. Make it explode any way that you can. That objective will be complete.

No more guards should be coming for you at this point. It is time for you to disable the GoldenEye and save the whole of the developed world. On the right side of the second floor, there will be a blast door that can be opened. Go through and open the door in there. Natalya will run in and start following you to the main floor of the control room. She will grab a spot in the front row, center table of the floor. Now comes the trickiest and most infamous part of the entire game. Natalya’s activities on the database will alert the whole facility and put on an obnoxious alarm. Before long, soldiers will steadily inundate the control room from various entrances, and it is your sole job to protect Natalya from this.

Enemies will come from four parts: upstairs coming down from the left and the right, as well as breaking through the glass on either side of you. Due to the layout of the control room floor and the fact that enemies come from all sides, there is no one best place to sit and camp. Try to stay by the front, but if lots of baddies tread down from the stairs and stand behind Natalya, you’ll have to move. The best idea is the cycle around the two center tables and eliminate soldiers as they appear. This is bound to require some practice, and you will probably fail trying to defend Natalya while someone was shooting you. This is very tough. Do not get discouraged.

If she has gotten enough time, Natalya will have successfully altered the GoldenEye’s trajectory away from London and into the Earth’s atmosphere to turn to cinders upon re-entry. She will walk off when she’s done, but enemies will come in ad infinitum as long as you’re there. It’s time to ditch this place and make your way to Trevelyan. Find the room where you destroyed the mainframe encased in glass. Pass through that room; you will encounter a warehouse with some soldiers and lots and lots of crates. To the far left will be Trevelyan, escaping via the elevator. Follow him by entering after he does.
