CHALLENGE 18: BEDTIME GORY!

Scenario: Hardly satisfied by her Imp massacres in Kick ‘Em Quick and Dirty Laundry, Amber’s insatiable thirst for Ghouly abuse won’t end until she’s faced off against the likes of Zombies, Skeletons and Zombies – at least we think so anyways. This challenge tasks Amber with venturing into the Baron’s Quarters and defeating as many Ghoulies as she possibly can under the confines of a single minute! Unlike her previous exploits however, she won’t be allowed to defeat any Imps, lest the challenge end prematurely before she’s gotten a proper chance to beat the Ghoulies senseless like the crazed lunatic she is. You’ll have to see Amber to defeating at least 23 assorted Ghoulies to find your way to Platinum.

Strategy: There’s a bit more method than madness in this challenge, and it all comes down to defeating all of the Ghoulies as quickly as possible, and what better way than to load yourself on a surplus of One-Hit Wonder! Soup tins? From where you start off, sprint towards the wardrobe on the right-hand side and dent in the drawers closest to the billowing curtains. The real challenge here is collecting all of the One-Hit Wonder! Soups that have just come cascading out before the Skeleton heading towards you has a chance to get too far ahead of himself. Once you’ve hastily grabbed up your trio of One-Hit Wonder! tins, you’ll have to grab the small chest of drawers in the center of this area and toss it towards the Skeleton, lining yourself up with the Haunted Television Set just behind him as well. This can be very tough going, but if you can manage it in your first few seconds into the challenge you’ll have a big payoff in the end rather than just coming short. After you’ve managed to add both the Skeleton and the Haunted Television Set to your totals we’ll return to the wardrobe where we acquired our Super Soups from and then bash in the cabinet doors. Doing so will herald a single Flying Imp which we’ll take out with a single hit before venturing off to the right and dealing with another Imp hiding in the second drawer with the cluttered top. We’ll repeat these actions with the drawers on the opposite side of this area to find two more hidden Flying Imps before denting in the rightmost drawer in the bottom of the central cabinet to find a trio of Turbo Cooper! Super Soups for some added speed. Right, with 6 Ghoulies under our belts, it’s time to venture off into the main area to continue our wake of destruction. Hang a sharp right as soon as you get past the curtains to find a suspicious looking Grandfather clock beside the desk here; smashing in the glass will provide us with a pair of Zombies that we’ll deal with in a timely fashion. Once that’s out of the way, we’ll make our way towards the desk just next to the clock and plow through the center of it. Doing so will expose a pair of Spiders that we’ll send packing just as quickly as they came. From here you’ll likely spot a second Skeleton gingerly running towards our hardened heroine from the Haunted Television Set, if not you’ll have to quickly approach the Set and make yourself known so that you can coax it into manifesting a Skeleton. After you’ve defeated the simulated Skeleton, we’ll coax the Haunted Television to provide us just one more before we smash in its screen and take out its laborious lackey respectively. Now that we’ve managed 13 Ghoulies, we’re left to deal with 10 more to make it to our Platinum safe haven which should come rather quickly. With our main floor out of the way, let’s sprint into the Barons Bathroom to the right and smash in his sink found in the corner; doing so will provide us with a trio of Ninja Imps to bring our counter to 16. Not finished with demonstrating our samurai skills, we’ll carry on towards the right to find a lone medicine cabinet hanging on the wall in the corner that harbors another trio of Ninja Imps. After you’ve dealt with the final Imps, we’ll have to be productive in our fleeting seconds by rushing back out onto the floor and locating the large vases to the left just in front of the central window. Each vase will provide a pair of Zombies that you’ll have to take care of the second they appear to work within the confines of our time limit. Once you’ve gotten rid of the forth Zombie in the second vase you should just have enough Ghoulies defeated to find your counter rolling over at 23. This challenge is hardly one to be completed in a single sitting, and it’s likely that you’ll have to keep your reactions cat-like and tweak your route with each instance to come out on top for the Platinum medal. Press on and you’ll nab it eventually.
