Why 2014’s E3 will be epic!

E3 is known by most people as the Electronic Entertainment Expo, it’s the biggest expo in terms of video gaming that takes place in June every year. It’s where all the major computer and entertainment corporations go to make their major promotions and reveals for what they have in store in terms of entertainment and video gaming for the current and following year. Last year; in the year of 2013; E3 had a good amount of potential to give a good impact in terms of games and entertainment. Sony and Microsoft had both revealed their next-gen consoles beforehand and had promised to provide a lot more information on them at E3. The main issue however was the fact that Xbox One was going into E3 with a rather negative reputation, after it’s reveal was poorly handled. Microsoft had their conference first, and while it did provide some interesting announcements and info on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 it still handled a lot of the major marketing for the Xbox One very poorly. This only gave Sony much larger momentum for the PS4, and it totally worked! Building it’s promotions against the restricted implications of the Xbox One, Sony gained a huge amount of support and appeal from the general audience, with the notable areas of cheering coming from the price of the PS4 and the it’s non-restricting implications.

After last years good reception it’s looking like this years road to E3 is really strong, for every company going into it. After Microsoft reversed their flawed and misplaced promotions and restrictions for the Xbox One, there is no general fear or hate for the console going into E3. With both Sony and Microsoft now having both their consoles out on the market, there is a questioning sense of what will actually be happening in this years E3. The fact is their is no major anchors going into 2014’s E3 could be seen as a bad sign, but on the contrary it’s actually a really good thing. Consider the fact that now both next-gen consoles are out in full force, developers and companies are going to recognise that this is the year in which next-gen is officially underway. So with Next-Gen now in full swing it means these developers will now be focusing their aims on making games on bigger scales and sizes which can match the potential of next-gen. That’s what I believe we will be seeing this year, as this is the first year for next-gen titles to make their mark in many different reveals and announcements.

Microsoft and Sony being the two major corporations going into E3 will likely have the biggest reveals to make, with such games as Halo 5 and Uncharted 4 making their appearance while unknown titles are bound to be revealed (Many speculate such reveals as; God of War, Gears of War, The Last of Us 2 and many more) It’s fair to say that this years E3 will be big on games, and with Ubisoft, EA and other companies also making claims to showing new games and making new announcements it’s going to be a mighty fine E3. With new games being covered like (Assassins Creed: Unity, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, The Crew, Destiny, Batman Arkham Knight, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and many, many more) it’s going to be a grand, epic E3!
