Top 5 Best Taverns in Sea of Thieves (St. Patrick’s Day Special)

Aye, the taverns. It’s where you’ve groggily started every voyage in Sea of Thieves and with any luck, it’s where you’ll end up with your crew for a round after you’ve sailed back again. While each should leave every captain worth his salt three sheets to the wind, is there a tavern that could be considered the best in all of the Sea of Thieves? This St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve decided to forgo a night of drunken debauchery in the real world in order to sail out to sea for a definitive answer as we search for the very best Taverns that would have us bilged on our anchors, slurring our shanties and splicing the mainbrace well into the night. These arrr the Top 5 Best Taverns in Sea of Thieves!

#5. THE SNAKE PIT TAVERN, DAGGER TOOTH OUTPOST – SEA OF THIEVES (XBOX ONE)

Sailing north into The Wilds can prove so depressing it might drive one to drink – and that’s precisely what’s happened to Tavernkeep Teri at The Snake Pit who has been tapping into her own casks to combat the dreary surrounds. To the credit of the grog it seems to do the trick, but she hasn’t let it get in the way of filling a tankard for anyone sober enough to find the counter. So what can you do with a drunken barmaid? For starters, Teri is one for a bit of palaver and if you can stand her slurring she’ll divulge the whereabouts of a hidden chest on Devil’s Ridge. In contrast to the grim and desolate world outside, Teri knows how to keep the nights lively in The Snake Pit, getting the party started early and keeping the drinks coming (while they last) at Dagger Tooth Outpost.

#4. THE GEORGE & KRAKEN TAVERN, SANCTUARY OUTPOST – SEA OF THIEVES (XBOX ONE)

If you’re looking for a tavern with a bit of a wild side, you could do worse than setting sail towards Sanctuary Outpost in the Shores of Plenty. Once you’ve docked, follow the rancorous, half-seas-over chatter to The George & Kraken where grog-soaked antics are paired with Chicken Swapping Night, a weekly stolen goods auction and a pub quiz where everyone resorts to cheating in typical pirate fashion. The tavern itself has quite a bit of history, with five generations stretching back to the very first local in Sea of Thieves called the ‘Travellers Rest’. The current owner Tracy has been keeping the grog stocked ever since she was old enough to reach the tap on the barrel and she’s always willing to impart the latest antics in her tavern to any buccaneer willing to listen.

#3. THE CHARRED PARROT TAVERN, MORROW PEAK OUTPOST – SEA OF THIEVES (XBOX ONE)

Working up a thirst in the Devil’s Roar isn’t too difficult, but should things become too hot to handle you’ll find the Charred Parrot Tavern open for business on Morrow’s Peak Outpost. Whether you’ve chosen to step inside for a drink, or you’re just biding time to wait out the active eruptions that have become commonplace in this region, Tallulah the Tavernkeeper will always have a frosty grog prepared. Hardly put off by the harsh surroundings, Tallulah sees each day as an adventure and even has ambitions of brewing her own cocktail called the ‘Pina Colava’ once she manages to keep it melting through the tankard. In the end, The Charred Parrot tavern provides much needed rest and respite in the fiercest lands that Sea of Thieves has to offer – and we’ll drink to that!

#2. THE BROKEN TUSK TAVERN, GALLEON’S GRAVE OUTPOST – SEA OF THIEVES (XBOX ONE)

If you consider yourself something of a grog connoisseur looking for some exclusive swill, then The Broken Tusk Tavern may have the ideal drink to suit your plundering palette. Pull up a stool and start off with the ‘Tess’ Dawn Amber’, a fruity mixture that tastes of bananas and owes its namesake to the Tavernkeeper. Looking for something a little bolder? The ‘Deep Sea Tentacle Tickler’ will see you wrapped around your tankard savoring every last drop of seaweed infused Kraken vomit. Finish it off with the subtle notes of ashen bramble sourced locally from Galleon’s Grave Outpost with the ‘Old Faithful’s Best’. With a creative flourish and a keen taste for ale, Tess will ensure that you’ll never have to settle for Tanya’s watered down ‘Chapman’s Old Bilge Sniffer’ ever again.

#1. ATHENA’S FORTUNE TAVERN, ATHENA’S HIDEOUT – SEA OF THIEVES (XBOX ONE)

Proving yourself worthy of stepping inside Athena’s Fortune Tavern is no simple task – only those who have become Pirate Legends are granted access to the eternal realm of Athena’s Hideout. Amidst the spectral playing of the tavern musicians, Legendary Louise works the bar and regards every Pirate Legend with suspicion, as her mortal frames of reference in relation to drinking age have become lost to time. Still, she will oblige you with a spirit of your own if you ask, lamenting that the mortal pleasures of inebriation were sacrificed in lieu of her everlasting existence. We’re usually not ones to enjoy hearing maudlin, but knowing that we’re experiencing what so many Pirates of past and future can only hope to achieve makes the grog taste that much better!
