CHALLENGE 21: PLAY IT AGAIN, SON!

Scenario: You’ve managed to best the Baron, collect all 100 Bonus Books, earn Platinum rankings across the board for all 20 Bonus Challenges, it’s time to play it again, son! That’s right, it’s even better the second time as you relive your Ghoulhaven adventure over, but this time it’s even more challenging to keep up with your Ghoulish mastery of the game. Amber will take the reins this time around, but to make things excruciatingly difficult she’ll only be provided with 10 health to see her to the end of each room and you won’t find a single lonely tin of Super Soup to help you on your way. If you can manage to finish this challenge at all you’ll earn the Platinum Medal for this 21st Bonus Challenge.

Strategy: You’ve certainly got your work cut out for you in this challenge, but it’s certainly possible to complete if you’ve managed to get this far. A common misconception during this challenge is that you’ll have to complete it in a single sitting, which just isn’t true. Instead, you’ll find that you can quit the challenge at any time in similar fashion to the previous challenges by accessing the pause menu. The challenge will automatically save your progress at the beginning of a new room, so you’re free to leave the action at any time and pick up from where you left off whenever you see fit. The only way that the challenge will reset is if you choose to do so in the pause menu by pressing the Right Bumper, the game isn’t so sadistic as to have you start over every time you keel over. You’ll have to be cautious of the Ghoulies with your new-found health, but also of Super Scary Shock sequences as they’ll zap all of your health in a single failed sequence. The best strategy is to follow the video above that we’ve used to detail the quickest and most painless routes to have you work through the game. It deals with each room, so if you happen to find yourself stuck you can always come back to it and refer yourself to the proper segment. So long as you can manage to complete the Race chapter and swat away all 100 Imps as Ma Soupswill, you’ll earn the final Platinum medal in Grabbed by the Ghoulies which earns you a gold framed decor for your panel conversations, and a gold heart to showcase your health that’s been featured in the video above. You’ll also unlock the ability to replay all of the cutscenes with an extra bonus scene and most interesting of all, an early preview of the game when it was shown off at E3 in 2001 to a private showing.

Platinum Medal: Reach the end, if you can…
