began as an ambitious original Rare
property for the Nintendo Entertainment System in September, 1990. Merging the appeal of contact sports and the dynamics of spinning tops, Screwballs
tasked players with commanding a team of gyrating superstars that could gain momentum in their respective 'Spin Engines'. Upon exit, opposing teams would clash inside of an arena, using their garnered speed to engage in battle. While the concept was promising, the project was eventually cancelled outright in July of 1991 after ten months of development.
