Perfect Dark GBC Nintendo Retrospective

Wouldn’t it be nice to be escorted by Carrington Institute Special Agent Joanna Dark wherever you go? With Perfect Dark for Game Boy Color, you can do just that.

The portable version of Perfect Dark takes place before Joanna’s N64 adventure, during the final stages of her training at the Institute. Joanna tests herself in real combat for the first time in seven missions designed exclusively for Game Boy Color.

After being flown to a South American jungle to investigate an illegal cyborg manufacturing facility, Agent Dark discovers that she has become an unwilling link in a much larger chain of events. Players will eventually discover that dataDyne is at the heart of the problem, and that the scope of its misdeeds runs far deeper than the Institute dreamt of.

If you’re familiar with the N64 Perfect Dark, you’ll gain greater insight into its conspiracy-driven plot after experiencing the Game Boy Color missions.

Perfect Dark GBC features a wide range of gameplay variety, mixing puzzles and minigames with furious shooting action. The Perfect Dark cartridge uses the Rumble Feature, and the game is compatible with the Game Boy Printer as well.

Determined to use every ounce of technology at their disposal, Rare also utilized the Infrared Port to allow players to transfer data between two Game Boy Color units. Using the N64 Transfer Pak, you can transfer data between the Game Boy Color and N64 versions of Perfect Dark to unlock special cheats in the N64 version.

Multiplayer gaming is one of the strongest aspects of the N64 Perfect Dark, so of course portable PD takes advantage of the Game Link Cable to offer competitive death match gaming for two players.
