Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Crates and Vehicle Parts Guide

NOTE: BODY “SETS”
You may find several references to Body ‘Sets’ in the parts guide below. A body set is one which contains the following parts to go into the ‘Body’ section of Mumbo’s Workshop:
Cube x50, Wedge x50, Corner x50, Pole x50, L-Pole x50, T-Pole x50, Panel x50, L-Panel x50, T-Panel x50

The only difference between each of the different sets is the weight of the parts in the set, as indicated by the ‘Heavy’ or ‘Light’ prefixes in the part’s name.

Mumbo’s Award Parts:


Every now and then when you collect a certain amount of jiggies, Mumbo will award you with some more parts to use for your vehicles. Below is a list of Mumbo’s awards.

5 Jiggies:

10 Jiggies:

The following crates can be found and collected as soon as you reach Showdown Town.

#3: Left of the Nutty Acres Act 1 door near some large, fragile crates

#5: Next to Humba Wumba in town square
Contains: Small Fuel, Standard Wheel x4

#6: On the roof of Mumbo’s Motors, get there via lamppost and trapeze wire

#7: Down in the Theatre District, on top of a statue of a pig with Jinjos surrounding it, near the LogBox 720 plinth

#8: Atop wooden bridge near the LogBox 720 plinth

#9: At the very top of LOG’s Factory (climb via the cable behind it)

High Grip Wheel Crates:


The following crates require the High Grip Wheels to access.
Complete the Nutty Acres’ Grunty battle to get them.

#10: Up a green slope behind LOG’s factory, atop a broken stone arch.
Contains: Large Taxi Seat x2

#11: Find Bottles and head left (or North) until you find a steep green slope. Take your vehicle up this slope and over a bridge until you find the Eastern gate and the crate.
Contains: High Grip Wheel x4, Tray

#12: From town square, find the Big Al’s Burgers storefront behind Mumbo’s. To the right of the shop is a steep green slope. Drive up the slope, then make a leap over the gap in the wooden bridge to reach a platform with notes and a crate.
Contains: Standard Wing x2

#13: In the canal in upper theatre district, look for a note tucked underneath a platform on one side of the canal to find a secret passage. Head on through to find a crate.
Contains: Sinker x2, Fulgore’s Fist

#14: On the roof of the Police Station (with the giant blue light), above Pikelet.
Contains: Spotlight x2

#15: Make your way to the docks in the town’s west to find two cranes. Talk to Bottles and pay him a couple of notes to get a better idea where this is. Climb one of the towers and use the wrench-it bolt to shake a crate from one of the large blue shipment crates.
Contains: Spec-O-Spy

#16: On the same dock as #16, climb a second tower and use the wrench-it bolt to knock down the crate.
Contains: Tow Bar x4

#17: Head up the steep slopes behind LOG’s factory to get to the jetty. Head down towards Klungo’s Arcade on the jetty, then look behind the Arcade to find a crate.
Contains: Balloon x6

#18: To the north of LOG’s factory near the jetty, you’ll find a number of buildings set up on the beach front including King Jingaling’s Jinjo Bingo. Follow the stores to the east end of town to find a lamppost, then use this to get onto the rooftops. Make your way back to the roof of Jinjo Bingo to find a crate.

#19: Talk to Bottles in town square and pay him 10 notes to learn the combination of the safehouse west of LOG’s factory. Next, head back to the police station and use the tightrope wire to cross over to the tower. Pull the wrench-it bolt and enter the combination Bottles provides for the crate.
Contains: Gyroscope

Floaters’ Crates:


The following crates require the floaters upgrade to the trolley before they can be collected. Complete the Grunty battle in Act 3 of LogBox 720 to obtain them.

#20: North-west of Jingaling’s Jinjo Bingo is a long landform with a lighthouse at the top of its hill. Get your vehicle into the water below the lighthouse to find a steep, sand beach leading up to a hidden cave with the crate inside.
Contains: Egg Turret, Balloon x6

#21: Head to the north of town, then take your vehicle out into the water from the beach and into the north-east corner to find a sandbar with some notes and a crate.
Contains: Sail x2, Floater x4

#22: Drive over to the Banjo Land Jiggy Dispenser and up the steep slope to the right of it to find the crate.
Contains: Heavy Body Set, Medium Fuel

#23: From Crate #22, cross the tightrope to get to the roof above the Banjo Land act 1 & 2 doors to find the crate.
Contains: Small Propeller x2, Medium Engine, Large Tray

#24: Up the steep slope left of the Banjoland Jiggy Dispenser. Head past the Pink Jinjo house, then down the wooden bridge to the Gazebo. The crate is around the right side.
Contains: Detacher x2, Small Passenger Seat x2

#25: At the docks, take your trolley into the water and climb up the steep slope spiralling around an island to find a third crane. At its base is your crate.
Contains: Armor x16, Small Engine

#26: – Climb to the top of the crane found for crate #25 to find a crate on top of the crane’s control box.
Contains: Ejector Seat, Boot-in-a-Box

#27: Take a trip through the canal above the Theatre District and look for a bridge on one side. Head under to find a steep slope – the crate is at the top.
Contains: Liquid Squirter, Spoiler x2

#28: Once you get to Crate #27, cross the long tightrope from the rooftop to get back to another rooftop in townsquare. From there, look for a long piece of metal stretching out and holding the Jiggy Bank in the centre of town. Carefully walk across to find your crate.
Contains: Self-Destruct

#29: From the location of Crate #27, hop out of your vehicle and look for a climbable drainpipe. Climb up to find your next box o’ bits.
Contains: Egg Turret, Light Body Set

Spring Crates:


The following crates require the spring upgrade to collect. Finish the Banjo Land Act 4 Grunty Battle to get it.

#30: Use the spring to bounce up to the roof of the building behind Humba Wumba.
Contains: Heavy Body Set, Medium Engine, Medium Ammo

#31: You may have seen Mr Fit running around Showdown Town on certain occasions. Try to catch him when he’s taking a breather, and he’ll offer to give you the combination to the eastern safehouse tower for a measly 10 notes. Once you’ve done that, navigate the rooftops in town square with your spring to reach the eastern safehouse near the lake. Enter the combination for your crate.
Contains: Suck-n-Blow, Small Fuel

#32: Head up to the north-east corner of the map and look around for Captain Blubber moping near the crashed UFO. You’ll need the springs to reach him. Talk to him and he’ll offer you the combination to the northern safehouse for 10 notes. Head up to LOG’s factory, then make a well-timed spring jump from the strip of grass above the tower to reach it. You may need to hop out of your vehicle at the right time to land. This one can take some time, but just keep at it and you’ll get it eventually.

#33: Head back to the LogBox 720 doors and the plinth, then turn around towards town square to notice a high wooden platform on the right-hand wall. Spring up for your crate.
Contains: Sticky Ball, Small Ammo

#34: Remember the lighthouse north-west of Jinjo Bingo? (read the description for Crate #20) Jump up there.
Contains: Small Propeller x2, Sails x2, Floaters x4

#35: You’ll find the Jiggoseum doors at the dock near Boggy’s. Next to the door for Act 3 is a crate.
Contains: Grenade Gun x2

#36: From Crate #35, use your spring to keep climbing the building up. You should notice the crate on a platform somewhere between the 57 and 83 jiggy doors.
Contains: Folding Wings x2

#37: From Boggy, head up the stone road going around the edge of the dock. Spring over the pile of soil and garbage, then follow the path of notes and spring over the gap in the wooden bridge. Follow the path to find the Red Jinjo House and your crate.
Contains: Box, Egg Gun x3

#38: After you’ve found Captain Blubber for Crate #32, continue past him to make your way into Uptown, where all the posh pigs and penguins like to hang out. Look to your right to see a crate sitting by a laser grid.

Contains: Vacuum, Spring x3

Scuba Seat Crates:


The next crates require the Scuba Seat upgrade before they can be collected. Beat the Grunty Battle in Jiggoseum Act 4 to get it.

#39: Head behind LOG’s factory with your newly equipped Scuba Seat to find a small arch of red lights in the water. Approach it, and they’ll turn green before a gate opens and lets you through. Deflate your floaters and pass through to the other side to find a crate in a room just left of Bottles in Town Square. Use the wrench-it bolt to deactivate the laser grid and get out.
Contains: Grenade Gun x3, Spoiler x4, Rustbin

#40: East of Klungo’s Arcade underwater, look for a tunnel entrance. Don’t look up against the wall – you should notice a bulge in the sand which indicates where the tunnel is. Just follow this ‘bulge’ back towards the shore to find the tunnel entrance, then follow it to find your crate.
Contains: Large Engine, Large Fuel, Large Propeller x2, Standard Wing x2

#41: On the eastern side of Uptown near Captain Blubber is another tunnel for you to travel through with your Scuba Seat. Head on through to emerge inside a castle between LOG’s factory and Jinjo Bingo. Grab your crate and use the wrench-it bolt to deactivate the laser grid and make your way out easily.
Contains: Foldy Propellor x2, Medium Fuel, Freezeezy

#42: On top of one of the turrets of the castle accessed in Crate #41’s description. You can also get here with a well-placed spring jump if you like.
Contains: Grenade Turret, High Grip Wheels x4, Armor x16, Large Ammo

#43: To the south of Uptown near the bridge crossing to Showdown Town’s eastern gate is a scuba tunnel. Take your vehicle through, then once inside, drive up to the top to find a bunch of notes and a crate, all fenced in. Grab your crate and drive back down, using the wrench-it bolt downstairs to drain the water before you make your way back to Mumbo’s Motors.

Laser Crates:


These crates require the laser upgrade from the Grunty Battle in Jiggoseum Act 5 to collect. Use your new weapon to shoot down any pesky laser grids you may come across.

#44: In Town Square, shoot the laser grid in the corner behind Mumbo’s Motors.
Contains: Small Jet x2, Grenade Turret, Foldy Propeller x2

#45: Shoot the laser grid above the boathouse, near the BanjoLand doors.
Contains: Large Jet, Torpedile, Spring x4

#46: Make your way into the castle from crate #41 and shoot the laser grid inside.
Contains: Large Engine, Large Box, Large Propeller

#47: Make your way down below Uptown like described for Crate #43, then shoot the laser grid.
Contains: Laser, Large Jet x2, Large Fuel, Large Ammo

Horn Crates:


The last set of crates require the Horn upgrade from the Grunty Battle in Terrarium Act X to collect. Once you’ve collected this upgrade, you’ll be able to get rid of the ghostly pigs sitting on crates throughout Town. This upgrade will only work if you have already collected all previous upgrades, be warned.

#48: Sitting on the building just north of Mumbos Motors.
Contains: Super Body Set

#49: Spring up to it near the LOGBox 720 doors in the Theatre District.
Contains: Super Wheels x8

#50: On the roof of a house lying between LOG’s factory and Jinjo Bingo.
Contains: Super Seat, Super Fuel

#51: In the caged-in area of Uptown, accessible in description of Crate #43.
Contains: Super Engine, Super Ammo x2

Stop ‘n’ Swop Crates:


If you have a Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts file and start up Banjo-Kazooie on the Xbox Live Arcade, you’ll be able to collect the Stop ‘n’ Swop items. After each item has been collected successfully, return to Nuts & Bolts and seek out your special crates at the following locations. Check the Banjo-Kazooie XBLA Guide for more details on the locations of the eggs.

#1: Ice Key Crate – On top of Boggy’s gym in the town’s west.
Contains: Flag

#2: Pink Egg Crate – In the east of town, head over to the Banjo-Land Act 3 and 4 doors – it’s in the boat house directly below them.
Contains: Fluffy Dice

#3: Cyan Egg Crate – On a rooftop south of the Jiggy bank, above the Theatre District. Use the spring to reach it.
Contains: Mole on a pole

#4: Blue Egg Crate – Find the ghost pig sitting on Crate #50 behind LOG’s factory. Once you spring up to him, climb the ladder to the turret above to find the blue egg crate.
Contains: Goldfish

#5: Green Egg Crate – After you collect the Scuba Seat, enter the tunnel behind LOG’s factory. Slowly edge forward through the tunnel and look for an exit on your right. Drive up to find a secret area under LOG’s factory with the green egg/crate.
Contains: Beacon

#6: Red Egg Crate – After you have the Scuba seat, make your way under Uptown via the tunnel on the southern side. Inside, use the laser to blast away a laser grid before venturing inside to find the red egg/crate.
Contains: Disco ball

#7: Yellow Egg Crate – On the beach below the lighthouse, although you need the horn to get rid of the ghost pig sitting on it.
